I had made the decision to make 2022 all about music-themed projects, when barely a week into the new year the new song by Maren Morris drops and there she is with a mid-eighties M-Body (it could have been either a Diplomat or Plymouth Gran Fury, but the badges had all been removed and it looked like it had the Diplomat's black grille). Having previously picked up a few of MotorMax's Diplomats and a can of Testors Pure Gold lacquer, I had everything I needed.

The car was disassembled and cleaned up, taking time to remove all the badges so I wouldn't have ghosts showing up later. Once it was ready I gave it its new paint job and redid the trim using a combination of BMF and a chrome Gundam Marker. The hood vents, rear doors, and trunk were detailed using a fine pen, the wheels were detialed with Tamiya panel liner, and the wipers and grille were touched up with some craft acrylic paint. To further recreate the look of the car in the video, I flipped the tires inside out to make them blackwalls and trimmed the hood ornament down to its base. The dice hanging from the rearview mirror were cut from square styrene stock, then shaped and decorated with a black pen before being hung using fine wire. The final detail was a screen-accurate "GO" license plate on California's classic "Sunset" base.
