C'est la vie

Last year when I built the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade motorcycle, I mentioned that the Dnepr used in the movie was likely a stand-in for the BMW R75 that was used by Germany throughout WWII, but that models of it were not available in 1/24 and so I used the Zündapp KS 750 instead. So of course a 1/24 version of the R75 has since become available in the form of a diecast model by Atlas. Fortunately, I had another project that also needed a WWII German motorcycle.

Am I Stealing Your Car?

With due respect to Jim Stapanek and IPMS, I'm seeing a very different kit with AMT's Jack Reacher Chevelle. The chassis had several issues including an incorrect wheelbase (though the exhaust system was not actually cast into the floor), there were substantial parts fit issues that were not mentioned, there were molding problems everywhere, and the decals were terrible on multiple levels. I do agree that the pad-printed tires are awesome, but this kit, like the GTO from the same era, really needs to be permanently retired.

Congratulations to Team Budweiser

Yee-Haw

When Round 2 announced that they would be producing an all-new kit of the General Lee featuring new tooling, I was really looking forward to it. Their old Charger kit had a few too many miles on it, and while Revell's kit is generally very good, it's not without problems. It turned out that this was not a complete ground-up redo of the 2nd-Gen Charger, but a highly modified version of their old kit. Still not as good as Revell's offering overall, but with a little work it can make a respectable General Lee.

Everything is Awesome

As faithful as LEGO movies & games are to their real-world roots, I was a little surprised that there were so many differences between the cycle shown in The LEGO Movie and set #70808. I could see last minute tweaks and adjustments effecting colors, but using a major component that has never existed was really unusual. Still, thanks to other fans and there is an option on Shapeways, at least there was a way I could get closer to the animation model.
