Real Fake Metal Body

Tip for April 2010:
Chrome Base Coat

"Hot" paints, like those used on 1:1 automobiles, can cause headaches ranging from slight ghosting where body fill was added to actually damaging the raw plastic. A barrier of some sort is needed to protect the plastic, which is something few primers are truly capable of doing. Instead, try a base coat of Chrome Silver, available in model-friendly paints from a number of manufacturers. Because the paint uses actual metal granules to achieve the "chrome" effect, it creates a pretty solid barrier. The only down side is that it is a relatively thick paint - so be careful not to put it on too heavy and obliterate fine details.
