I first got this kit as a formerly-finished model of AMT's White Freightliner. Before I got it, the truck was on a shelf which collapsed, damaging the model. It then sat for some time, until I bought it as a parts truck in 1998. That is, it was supposed to be a parts truck, but the other kit I got was a single-axle, no sleeper COE, so I ended up using the "parts truck" as the main kit.
I completely rebuilt the truck, getting parts from other kits, aftermarket kits, and scratchbuilding anything I couldn't find elsewhere. For resources, I used other truck kits, 1:1 Trucks on the road, and my Optimus Prime Trans Former.
I finished the model, and brought it outside and set it up to photograph, when the wind came and blew the truck over. Unfortunately, the damage was not entirely superficial. Both exhaust pipes, the sun visor, lights, horns, steps, and grilles broke off, the cab split, and the top left corner of the cab was destroyed (needless to say, I wasn't happy).
What you see on this page are the only digitally retouched photos of a model on my site. These pictures were taken after the accident, scanned in, and repaired to what the truck looked like before (I was tempted, but I didn't repair the truck to any better than it looked in life; this is what it looked like).
I am eventually going to add a trailer painted like Optimus' to complete the model.
